Northeast SD with kids??
« on: Dec 21, 2012, 02:22 PM »
I may have a chance to get out with my son and nephew (9 and 10 years old) in the next 2 or 3 days.  I was looking for some direction in where I may have the best bet to get them some action. They don't need jumbos or wallhangers just something to keep them interested.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Ryan

Enemy Swim for gills, sunnies, crappie, etc.  Usually will keep kids entertained. Pickeral is usually pretty reliable too for crappies.  There are some nice tables / holes, if I remember right on the West side of the lake, both N and S end.  Get a countour map and find them.  Bitter is supposed to be relatively good bite for perch and walleye although I have never personally fished it before.  Waubay is usually somewhat consistent for perch and walleye in the winter. Best bite is always right before sun down for walleye (get in 12-16 FOW over rocks IMO). Perch seem to bite best in the early afternoon (3pm) up until dusk.  I would suggest NE corner of lake over by Mansion Point area or off of Grenville. Give Scott a call at Sportsmen's Cove, he will put you on fish. Also the last I was on Enemy Swim in the winter was in Indian Bay off the reed beds. I can't remember depth but want to say was around the 6-8 FOW area.  They were smaller in that bay but bit agressively and every now and then a few dart northerns could be had. Should keep kids busy.  Good luck and I hope you slam them with the kids.
