Favorite Lure Tipping Bait
« on: Dec 08, 2012, 03:44 PM »
For us here in Utah live bait except worms aren't legal for example minnows, suckers, etc.  We have success for panfish primarily Perch and Crappie tipping our lures with Wax Worms or snippet of crawler or Crappie Nibbles or Perch eye or meat.  We don't target trout. Sometimes a combination of the aforementioned works well also. What is your favorite lure tipping bait?

Pretty much the same for me waxies, mealies, crawlers, perch eyes, crappie nibblets, power eggs and cut up shiners. The only place I use anything different is at the gorge. Up there I use sucker, carp and chub.

This is the second year that I will be using spikes, along with waxies and mealworms.  The panfish at Utah Lake loves 'em and they seem to stay on the hook much longer due
to their tougher skin.  I put two of them on the hook and I catch lots of gills with this setup.

Going to try them Mousee's this year.  Got our order of Mousee's and Waxies a week or so ago.  I'm hoping they last until we have some safe ice to use them on.  So far they are doing good check them every other day.  Will be interesting with the Mousee's and how they work.
