Strikemaster auger mag2000 cutting issue
« on: Jan 27, 2013, 07:51 AM »
I bought a used strikemaster auger mag2000 from a guy last summer for $20.  He couldnt get it to run and tried to drill holes in the ground.  I like to tinker so I figured what the hell.  I took the carb apart and cleaned it up, runs great.  I noticed the output shaft on the transmission had alot of play.  I put in new bushings for the shaft, no play now, all good.  Obviously put on a new blade also.  I took it down to the pond yesterday and tried to drill a hole, it wouldn't cut in.  It does have a pretty significant wobble.  Just wondering if that is the issue?  I would think if it has a sharp blade, it should still attempt to cut, it's just that the hole would be oblong?  Can I buy a strikemaster hand auger and but the auger on my motor?  Any other idea's?

Ouch. He bent the bit for sure. Save the blades and scrap the bit.

I may be wrong but I believe there is an adapter you need to purchase to attach the hand auger bit check out the strike master website

Pretty sure you need an adapter but yes it can be done. Not sure if strikemaster sells them, if not you might have to make one.
