Spent all day on one of my favorite lakes with a fellow forum member. Here are the results. The fishing is not fast and furious, but when you do hook into one, it is a nice sized one. Many days we get skunked on this lake as the bite is real finicky at times.

I might have to go to Alaska to find some ice. Last year I was catching steelhead through the ice Dec 17. This year we still have open water

Awesome fish. Makes us New Hampshire guys real jealous. At least we are finally getting on the ice. What kind of fish is that in the second picture? The colors are amazing.

Beautiful fish congrats! Quick question about char do you catch them in the same FOW as lakers an do they basically go for the same type of baits? Got lucky last year an caught one here in Colorado but no one seems to know much about them except u guys up north

Nice fish, good work !I think I need to plan a road trip outa the valley for fish, Have not hooked up any fish that size throught the ice ( except pike ) since going to school in ELY MN years ago... awwwe the memories

Yes we catch those char in the same exact water column as the lakers and the same lure. We never know if we have a laker or a char on until we get it to the surface. This lake is so diverse. We have been fishing this lake for years now and are still somewhat dumbfounded as to the preferred depth of these fish. We have caught them on the bottom in 140' of water and have caught them in 20-30' of water just cruising under the ice and everywhere in between. Using electronics helps us to mark where the fish are and we can immediately lower or raise our jig to the fish.

man nice fish!everytime i see one of those char it makes me drool. they look so cool! and for some reason i really want to feel one.they dont look slimy at all. what do they feel feel like? lmao

Yes the char are caught in the same depths as the lakers. When we hook into one of these fish from Harding, we do not know what it will be until we get it closer to the surface. Both the char and lakers hit the same lures.
