« on: Mar 05, 2012, 09:56 AM »
Anyone have any information about how the bite is right now? I have trip planned the week of the 19th to 25th. Any information would be helpful!
No place I'd rather be, then on the ice fishing!

We're planning to be there in a week, I have to admit that the forecast has me concerned.  Highs in the 50's and not getting below freezing at night, and I'm assuming south winds involved there as well.  I don't want to be fishing in 6" of slush, especially with the wife and kids along...

Daily updates on ND ice conditions next week would be greatly appreciated!!! ???

I just fished Monday and Tuesday.  It was a good 24" of ice but started getting wet under the snow by Tuesday night.  The constant storm fronts had the fish really neutral/negative and you really had to work the fish on your electronics to get a bite.  No tipup fish and no fish on anything others than the smallest buckshot spoon with a minnow head.  I threw the whole tackle box at them.  Fish would come up off the bottom 1 to 2 feet and look at stuff but never bite.  9 keepers to 15" out of 18 fish caught in 2 days and 75 holes drilled.  Best bite in the Towers  area from 4 to 6:30 pm.

Ice should be fine that weekend.  It may be wet but not unmanageable at that point.  We have some snow on the ice and cold night time temperatures still with the full 25 inches of ice on the lake.  Your coming at a very good time for Devils Lake.  Keep track of reports on Woodland Resorts web site and don't be affraid to call that place.  They have great info.  I'd focus on 6 mile bay and target the three main species (Perch, Pike and Eyes) getting ready to run for spawning.
Rippin' Lips and Taken' big sips.
