Eskimo 949i best price
« on: Jan 01, 2013, 09:00 AM »
Anybody know where the cheapest place is to get an Eskimo 949i? Also do you think it's worth the money for the insulated even though I have a big buddy heater?

Guess it depends on where you fish and how cold it gets there.  That's why we put in a general location in our profile.  You get better answers to your questions if we have that data.

Sorry I put in my location I live in northern iowa. I was looking to buy a. Brand new one. A sporting goods store here matches prices so shipping doesn't really matter just the base price

I too wanted 1 of these.
but I read a lot of negative reviews from people and their experience with them.
crappy poles, flaws with zipper, not flush to ground.

I hope they have problem fixed, because they look awesome!!!

might consider a clam summit thermal

I have a 949I, and I can't even keep a small sunflower heater going as it gets too hot. They retain the heat very well and you don't get any condensation falling from the roof either.
Is the inside if the regular 949 red or black? I like having the black interior and no colored light inside.

Inside 949 black as of last year.  Mine sits flush but 2 of the poles (lower under door, 1 each corner) are maybe about half inch too long so they curve to the side.  Not really a problem, more of an annoyance.

I had the same problem with my poles so i removed about half an inch from the two and it was much better. Love the 949.

I bought my 949i from landmsupply.com for $279.  I run a Mr. heater heater/cooker and it keeps it plenty warm.

I've read they fixed the problems with the hubs and poles this year.  I want to get one but am still torn between the 949, 949I, and Fatfish 4.

I have a reg 949 and we heat it easily w a reg mr heater. This weekend it was 5 degrees w a 10-15 mph wind and we were warm. Condensation has never been a neg issue as far as dripping on us. It sweats, and we just set it in the bathtub for a day when we get home to dry. Great shelter!! as far as low prices; you can go to amazon and they usually can find a lowest price.

Stayed in mine for 4 days this past week with temps in the low 20s and the wind blowing super hard stayed nice and warm. At one point the wind was only blowing 10 MPH and I did not notice. When the wind started blowing hard enough to make the plywood floor feel like it was moving under me I started to get worried and walked around to check the guide lines but it all stayed up surprisingly well. I stayed an extra day because I was not looking forward to braking things down in the wind.

The confort range works like this for me.

with temps from 20 to 40 you are cooked out of the house with heater on low.

temps 0-20 you stay comfortable with the heat at medium.

temps from -20to 0 you have to put the heater on high to stay warm and you start to get frost on the inside of the walls

temps -40 to -20 you have to have the big buddy on high and it helps to have another heater I use a lantern to keep warm enough not to have to ware a sweater. You get lots of frost on the inside of the walls. the good news is that at no point do you have any ice or water dripping on you.  It helps to have some kind of floor to put down over the ice so you dont have to fish in a puddel. plus the floor helps keep it warmed and the moisterdown

I love mine it is one of the best things that I have bought to help me stay out fishing for longer.
