just wondering if any one is fishing there this weekend if you are can you tell me how you did getting ready to head up 2/21 and does any bait shops sell smelt thanks for the info

Haven't fished there this year and you can't buy smelt from bait dealers as it is illegal.You can jig up your own on Caspian but can't leave the lake in a motorized vehicle with them(you can leave the lake w/them if staying at a camp on the shore).

 I fished caspian last weekend. The fishing was real good for lakers n big perch. If you want smelt you can jig them up right at the boat launch shallow. Real shallow. Shiners dont really seem to work well at caspian

Is it ok, to drive on now, with a Pickup now, or not?  How many inches of Ice, on the whole lake now?  I don't have the strength, to pull out my sled, with a portable shanty, so that is why I am asking.  If I was younger, then, yes, I could hump it!  Ha, ha.

There are lots of vehicles driving on Caspian. More than 14" of ice. I fished there yesterday, got 4 Lakers all under 24".

Caspian Lake Fishing Derby March 3rd , 4am-2pm . This is the 2nd Annual-put on by the Greensboro Fire Dept. You can get your tickets early at Rite-Way,Willeys,The Old Fishing Hole and Bartlett's Bait. This year Home-made Doughnuts,Coffee, and Hot Chocolate for sale.
