A few nice fish at the Mile today.
« on: Feb 05, 2012, 07:51 PM »

Met up with my friend "B" today at the Mile. Had fog snow in the morning."B" landed this nice toothy critter on a tip up.33" and just under 9 ibs. He got bit off by a bigger one later on. I managed to catch five trout today. The two largest were 22" and 20" and three stockers. A few fish in the morning and slow most of the day.Caught my largest at 11:30 am and the 20" at 12:15 pm when the skies were clearing.I would post a few more pictures for this post but can't seem to get more than one at a time,oh well. Tight lines.

Nice job as usual this year!  Beauty pike!

I was there early and it was windy and foggy.  Kind of weird.  I walked all the way across the lake from Sucker to fish the north shore.  What a waste of time.  I picked up one 18" trout and that was it.  Ended up at Witchers where I picked up one stocker.  Man I can't figure out the Mile this year!

That was the 22" trout. Colorado it was a slow day today.I caught a stocker early morning to beat the skunk and nothing was hitting after 7:30AM. Not long after I saw a nice pike."B" caught the
33"er. We thought the pike were keeping the trout away but not really sure. The two largest trout I saw today I was fortunate enough to catch.Today the stockers were hardly hitting and I usually pull my line out of the water until they pass. The more I think I get that place figured out I get humbled and I think I don't know jack. All but one was caught in 5 FOW,and on a hand tied pearl white scud.

Was a great day for big fish... and a I managed to find a few small ones but the waterwolf made the day complete!

It was great to fish with you Mark. I had a blast and got in trouble for getting home late but after being married 22 years my wife know when the bite is good, I won't be home!  LOL

Man you sure hooked up some nice trout Mark! Great job!

Sweet fish. My goal for the year is a Northern over 30" thru the ice.

I have heard that fishing gets better toward ice off? Any truth to this?

I can't really say it gets better. I know during mid season it can get slow possibly due to low oxygen. Usually my last day or two before ice-off is in full swing, the pucker factor is too great to concentrate on fishing because the ice is talking quite a bit
