West Grand old time...
« on: Feb 04, 2012, 04:45 PM »
Just got back from Grand Lake Stream. Fishing was awesome. Conditions were very good. Ice from 14" to 24". Salmon averaged 18", Togue 20 plus. Unfortunately I think I blew the motor on my wheeler coming off the lake Friday night. Otherwise a stellar trip. The ice shanty crew will be in prime time next week. This shot was from Friday am while my wheeler was still alive...
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

I have to download them from my nikon. Service with verizon is poor up there so I didn't use my phone to take pics only for this one. The salmon averaged 18" so many went right back in. No monsters but beautiful fish right out of the water...

Sorry to hear about your 4 wheeler. Could you please tell me how much snow is on the lake and if it was packed down or blown off down to mostly ice?

Appreciate it!!

I was on it opening day and the lake had a 3-4 of inches of hard crusty snow.  A lot of freezing rain opening day, it is good going with just about anything you want to go with.  We had a wheeler and a sled, both went equally well.

yes sir.  Wheels would be much easier than putting on skis.  How late are people fishing on Sunday? My daughter wants to go to the Hannaford Derby on Saturday in Naples, which she really enjoys.  Weather of course is an issue as well.  Great East Lake today was perfect for almost any type of transportation.

I would put the skis on if it was me.  Not totally bare, you would probably be ok if you have a 180-185 with big tires.

We were planning on fishing a 1/2 day, so if you came up in the morning...

The traveling on the lake as of Saturday morning was hard pack on any trails otherwise there is 2 to 3" of crust over ice for the most part. On Friday trucks and a few caravans were on the ice off bonnie brook rd. _he conditions were really good for wheelers. I think my motor is blown as I can't pull it over. Snowmobiles are in with near racing conditions.  Bring plenty of smelts smallest is best. I hated to leave...
