Skilak Loop/Campgrounds/Hidden Plowed
« on: Feb 07, 2012, 02:04 PM »
Just called the Kenai Moose & Goose refuge about road plowing. They directed me to DOT in Soldotna.

The Skilak Loop, lower and upper Skilak Campground parking lots and Hidden Lake parking lot have been plowed out on MONDAY Feb. 6th. All the fishing areas have access again to them.

Anyone driving out on Hidden or is the snow too deep?

After the last snow, snow was so heavy that it created a huge overflow of water on the ice.  That water has since frozen for the most part, but there are some hidden pockets of slush.  I wouldnt drive a truck out there for fear of getting stuck Id wait for it to freeze up a bit more.  But ice thickness is great.  Fished all over, ice depth was 24-30".  Saw only one other group on the ice and they stayed in close(First Point).  There is a good road that was made by a guy pulling his Ice House off the lake with his snowmachine.
