Rapala R type
« on: Dec 11, 2011, 10:12 PM »
I picked up a Rapal R type bait cast combo today.  I've been looking for one to use on walleye and pike.   Its a 36" Med action rod and an RTR30 reel both made by Rapala.  Does anyone have any experience with them?  I could not hammer out what to get while in the hunt and this was on the shelf of the local dealer so I picked it up.

I got one last year and love it ;D
I find though that the rod is alittle to twisty. But the the reel is great. Some pics

Glad to hear you like it.  Looks like you respooled with a braid, I put on 15lbs power pro ice braid. I notice your in Alberta.  We are heading to Brooks this weekend for 4 days.  Are you in that neighbour hood?

That looks like a good rod combo for lakers.  Where did you get it? I even looked online and didn't find one available.

I just picked up this rod and reel combo and it is so smooth.

This is my first big rod investment and wow I am feeling I have been missing out for a while.

Anyone else have some reviews about this?
