All very good posts and agree with them all................one of my pet peeves is guys (or gals) that feel the need to keep every legal fish they catch and end up not eating them..........

I have no problem with the guys that actually are going to eat them, but when I see a guy proudly standing beside a couple four inch perch...............I gota wonder ??? ???

spring cut bait  ;)

my biggest things are garbage and poachers....seems like all poachers are also slobs leaving trails of garbage everywhere they go  >:( >:(

I don't like the foul language either out on the ice.  You can hear quite a ways out there. Just a little respect with the women and kids out there. I don't even care for it anymore!  :-\  I don't think it is needed.  And leaving fish and garbage is a No No!  See someone older that needs a hand, Help Them Out. Drilling holes,Pulling sleds, or shantys in deep snow, etc.  :)

anyone that knows me knows I have drilled 100s if not 1000s of holes for other guys, both young and old. I know how much drilling with a dull auger or using a spud stinks...so if I see someone struggling to drill holes I always offer to fire up the power auger and drill a few for them.

I think the number one is trash. And lack of respect for land owner where people access the lake. It just take min to ask for permission to enter.

i will admit that in the past i have left a couple of dinks on the ice cause they were not releasable because of damage and have gotten away aways and had eagles and crows come in and scavange on them so where you have a eagle population i don't think that a few fish left on the ice over the season will destroy the population or do undo environemental destruction . if i'm not going to eat a dink that was killed because of gill damage isn't it better that some starving critter gets it than the compost pile , i'd rather feed an eagle than my garden!

No doubt  that  some scavenger  will   pick the eys out of a dink left on the ice --  and maybe fly away with the whole carcass.  No dout that   some  dinks swallow  the hook and  that doesnt dammage the  fishery.     Leaving them on the  ice  doesnt   do undo environmental destruction ----- you are correct  in all of this.

But  what some of the guys are saying is that leaving them on the ice makes the  fishermen look  like  slobs and  they are also correct.

I   throw my carcasses in the garden, and  thats where I throw the occasional   dead dink, too.   I dont  want you to think I am   some kind of high and  mighty  SOB, though.    To prove  it I  will confess to leaving a cigar butt on the ice today along with a little tobaco spit  :o

My biggest pet peeves is the littering ANYWHERE even on the ice I hate it when i go out fishing and there is a pile of trash right beside a trash can. We have lost way to many great or even good fishing spots cause some ppl are to lazy to pick the crap up.
ev1 has great ideas on this subject and i agree with them all. Well said guys
