2 liter bottle rig
« on: Jan 13, 2012, 06:10 PM »
Has anyone ever tried trying a line a a two-liter bottle with a hook on the other end and when a fish takes it they will move the bottle and then the race begins. Just curious! I had read about it in the past but haven't ever tried it myself yet. By the way would this count as a tip-up???

They are obviously illegal on open water, but I would argue the illegality of this rig on the ice.  As long as you are attending them , have no more than 5,  don't leave the ice,  and have you name and address on them, how is that different from any other 'signalling device'.  For what it is worth, I have seen guys use basically the same rig, just smaller bottles and cans for perch....... ???

HAHAHA that is good thinking.  I've got a few catfishing spots up here that would be awesome for jugging.  What fun it would be.

I used a small water bottle with some small stones in it just for this purpose. I was on Cranberry Pond one day and the officer asked why I had a water bottle by my holes. I just told him they were not tip ups, not tip downs, but tip overs. He checked for my name and address (which I had on all the bottles), smiled and walked away shaking his head. Just as he got next to one, it tipped over, rattled and rolled towards the hole. I walked over and pulled in a nice perch.
