Pinedale help???
« on: Dec 28, 2011, 09:47 PM »
My brother and I are going to hit Pinedale in the morning, we're taking the kids, and are looking for a good time. The weather says warm(38) and wind(15). Not the best conditions, but we'll anchor down the hut. So, any suggestions? Don't care about size, just want to get the next generation of ice shanty members into some fish.

Half Moon is probably the easiest to access and catch fish. Around the boat ramp area. look for old holes, 40-70 feet of water (or shallower). White or chartreuse tube jigs with sucker meat, minnows, sculpins. Bounce jigs right on bottom. I heard there was 3-4'' of ice a few days ago, as always, check for yourself. Be safe and good luck.

Went to Willow today, 13"of ice, but it has a weird open patch in the middle. Crazy wind, had to set up the hut in the trees to warm up, to get out. Went to half moon and fished down near the end of the road, caught two in less then an hour. Ice was 11" thick. Near the boat ramp the ice did not look safe, avoided it, looked like the shoreline was open.

I would go to boulder lake.  Was raised in Pinedale and Rock springs. Fished many years with my Grandpa and Great uncle. Boulder does not get fished to hard but does produce some great fishing if fished correctly. I worked with the Game and Fish in Pinedale this summer, when fishing gets slow it seems that boulder or willow are the best bets. If you just want to fish and don't care what you catch with the size being in question then just go have fun catching does not matter it is the bonding time with family that does.

Boulder has not produced big numbers this year but a few good fish.  I would try Half Moon.
Here fishy fishy fishy, I don't want to hurt you, I just want to catch you!
