Marcum Showdown
« on: Dec 20, 2011, 07:53 PM »
pumped!! just got a Marcum Showdown dual beam sonar on ebay.  Only paid 350.....everyone else is 400.  No tax or shipping either.

Anyone else used one of these?  Saw a guy on Bacon creek using one and it was great......with my underwater camera I'll find them, watch them and catch em' too........I hope.

FYI......the vendor is Reed's out of Walker MN.  Ironic part is, I go to Leech Lake each year and have actually been there.  Their web site has it for 400+tax but they sell it on ebay for 350?  Don't care but good deal.

Marcum has $25 rebate until Jan 15 I think.

i have a showdown single beam that i picked up with my 20% gander employee discount, ended up paying just short of 300 for it. i love it! its my first sonar unit so i cant compare it to anything but it works really well and is like sonar for dummies, its so easy to use. 100% satisfied with my purchase

If the Showdown's were $200, I would definitely consider buying one, but when you have to spend $350-$400 for one, I would go with ANY brand of flasher over the Showdown.  It does take a couple hours to really get used to what you're looking at on a flasher, but once you figure it out, you will LOVE the flasher.

I've personally never used a Showdown...but have talked to many guys that have, and several of them then went to a flasher, and I don't think anyone has gone back to the Showdown.

I bought the Marcum LX5 2 years ago when it was $400...and it is well worth every penny!

Just got mine on monday from reeds and finally got to use it today on spirit lake for the first time....I was overall impressed at the ease of use, but I was in such shallow water that it was hard to pick anything up unless it was right underneat me. I was in 8' and from what I hear that only gives you about a 12'' area on each side of the cone for the distance the flasher bounces back at. I have used a few of the round faced flashers and I would think that any would work better than none, but since this one is my first flasher I love it. Did you get the dual beam or single? I have the single as I don't fish anything deeper than about 40'. Best of luck to you and tight lines!

I got the Dual from Reed's via e-bay.  $350 total.

They do have the most power of any flasher I've researched....8000 watts.  And the 1/2 inch separation equals the $700 LX-7.

way better bargain and simpler to use..........it arrives TODAY (so says ups)

Reeds also sends you a reciept for 400 so you can get the 25 back from marcum so you actually get it for 325

You'll like it a lot and having ice nearby to try it out doesn't hurt either...
