Just enjoyed my first Pike fry up of the ice season!
« on: Dec 19, 2011, 09:08 PM »
Went to my favorite lake this week....the pike action was insane....mind you only one out of 20 was legal size. but a ton of fun, and no one else on the lake! and 20 pike in 2 hours, is more than I can wish for  @)  the perch where scared, thin and nervous for good reason!

Just had a nice fry of pike chunks in breadcrumbs in butter-my son loves it too..we were fighting over the last pieces!winter fish taste best ;D

if anyone has kids for a fun pike lake near edmonton PM me.....keepers of legal length dont show up often though. its a load of fun with smelts and a tip up. bring wirecutters to let the beasties loose if they get a little too into the bait.

Sounds like my kind of meal.

Good catch there shepike, nothing beats a fun day on the ice, especially when you get into some decent catching.
Bonus having a quiet day on the ice.

Cheers,

Jonny

well hope to see you out the the Rumwal derby, or perhaps another ice shanty get together. I remember a couple years ago we had fun at Lake Isle with a get -together with some shanty folk!

Hey Shepike,

Sounds like a great day on the ice! Congrats on the fish!!!
I tried PMing you as I have some little cousins i would like to take out for some pike, but for some reason it wont let me send PM's. If you wouldn't mind sharing the location, I will return the favor with some tips for another pike lake near Edmonton. Shoot me a PM, hope it works for you.. ;)

Tight lines!!
