Ahh, if only we could get 3 days at -20F we'd be set
yeah no kidding, that should be all it takes to kick the season off, I just went through my old posts from last year and the first time I got out last year was december 18th. There was 2 inches of ice where I was in southern maine... I don't think that will happen this year.
Don't feel bad, I don't think we will see it up here either. Everyone around me thinks I've lost my mind because I'm praying for cold weather
I don't think that will happen this year.
you might be surprised, things are ready to freeze, As long as the wind stays down there should be ice on all the early spots by the end of next week.
I checked a place tonight with 2.5 to 4" depending on where less ice on the shore line
It does when there is open water as it needs calm winds to set up. After it is frozen I say no.
Wind chill (often popularly called the wind chill factor) is the felt air temperature on exposed skin due to wind. The wind chill temperature is always lower than the air temperature, and the windchill is undefined at the higher temps (above 10 °C [50 °F]). Humidity on the skin can result in a higher felt air temperature, which is accurately termed the heat index (or humidex), and is used instead.
