Omaha Ice
« on: Dec 16, 2011, 04:41 PM »
Has anybody seen the ice in Omaha and surrounding areas.  Did it melt of enough to make good ice or we going to fight bad ice all season.  Hopefully we dont have to drive a long way to fish.  Reports on the ice would be great :)

I just went out and checked the pond behind my parents house (just south of Springfield). 2.5" on one side and 5" on the other. I walked out about 15' on the strong side and the ice seemed pretty clear and strong. Didn't push my luck and go any further. Thought about punchin a hole and wettin a line but forcast is reading 46 and sunny today. Any ice updates from Wehrspan, Walnut Creek, or Zorinsky?
keep yer stick on the ice.

I ice fished Prairie View lake (Bennington) this morning and it still had 4" of ice. Caught some gills and bass. Surprised the weather didnt damage the ice too bad. Sure felt good to get out. I wore my life vest and had pics to be safe.
