New Rod
« on: Nov 26, 2011, 12:53 PM »
Got an new ice rod today from Cdn Tire.  A Northland medium weight.  Not that I really needed it , but it just jumped out at me and I felt sorry for it, so I brought it home and I will take it fishing with me soon as we get some ice.  Seems to be a good rod, fairly stiff with a soft tip, nice thin handle and the real sits well back for great balance.  I matched it up with an Accucast 4 bearing reel and the balance is perfect.  The rod was $31.  not expensive but not cheap either.  Geeze I just got to stay out of tackle stores.
Cheers sig.

yeah, i like the look of these rods. I looked at it and the Fenwick in Cdn Tire, but since i already added a pair of rods this season I decided to hold off.

I just picked up 2 of the new Northland rods a 23 UL and a 26ML.. I found them for 27 bucks didnt seem like a bad deal.. I like the action on them the Ul has good backbone for a short rod i like that.. I through on some St. Croix springs too just my preference.. I had a couple shimano sedona's that will fit them perfect. I  cant wait to try them out...
