Any bets on where the first lake will freeze enough to fish this winter?

Almost certainly a shallow lake in the Flattops will be frozen in 2 weeks.

St. Marys lake is always a good bet for first ice. Right at end of Oct.

I think we're gonna hit a high lake behind Leadville saturday. Hopefully it's not frozen yet-

Yep!! Also found a couple lakes a little bit lower with 2" of ice, fished 1 of them caught 1 but ice was popping and cracking to much, but I think they will be good by next weekend.

Just returned from Antero. I was at the south shore and the lake is pretty frozen, didn't see any water but i didn't attempt to walk on it yet.  I would say if the temps stay the way they have been it should only be a couple of more weeks before we can drag our gear out and fish.. Hooray!!!!!!

My Dad went out to Tarryall today. Said it was froze with 2-4 inches of ice, but he didn't see any auger holes. He didn't fish, was just looking.

Awesome news about Tarryall and Antero.  If i read the report right for Fairplay, next week is supposed to be highs in the 30s and lows in the teens all week.  I would think that should make it 'safe to surf' ( or as safe as ice fishing can get).

I saw on another site that Tarryall has 4" of ice and the guy said he fished it and got 12 bows in 2 hours. Am heading up there Sunday, will let you all know how it is.

The wife & I went out to find ice this afternoon.  Our first choice still had open water, but our second choice had 6-7".  We each caught a couple before we had to leave.

Hey Steve.
Did you guys get any laker bait?
I read that you were selling your gas auger?
I hope you still have the Kawasaki.
