yah that trail is far from groomed!! in my experience it is best to pack as light as posssible!! that trail is super hard on equipment, so bring the essentials, wear backpacks and pack everything very good!! my first two trips down that trail taught me to pack light and efficient we damaged a lot of stuff even knocked all the paint off our lures thats how rough the trail was. I now pack everything on me and my snowmobile if possible, wear a backpack stuffed with essentials all my storage on my sled is full of gear and my gas rack holds an ice auger or a pop up shack. if a guy can do the trip without a sleigh it is a bonus because it slows u down and everything in the sleigh gets slush/snow covered and beat to crap on that trail. Over 30 miles there and 30 miles back, just sayin it helps to go light and really pack smart. i've ruined ice augers, lures, beer, snowmobile, sleigh, fishing rods u name it, thought i'd pass on some insight seeing as how i've ruined hunderds if not thousands of dollars worth of gear on that trip by just loading a sleigh up not thinking or packing smartly and just givin er crap up that trail which is a back breaker at the least!! cheers and good luck!!
