condie?
« on: Feb 09, 2011, 04:31 PM »
Is this pond completely dead now or is the aeration going again? I heard long before I lived in Regina it used to be a good little perch pond. would be great for the kids. Any info would be great.

Also wondering about Oyama? I hear the same thing about that pond as well.

I remember 15-20 years ago in the leader post there was a photo of someone who caught a 20LB monster pike out of condie. the next day my dad took me there to fish and there was 100's of people along the shore that must have seen the same article, and no one was catching a thing.
I've only tried fishing there once since, about 10 years ago, went out at night and i thought i was being attacked by moths, but then they started to get real big and i relized it was bats! i looked up and it was a swarm of 1000's of bats i turned around and ran faster than i'd run in a long time.

After that article, there were cars everywhere for a few years.  There were some pike in there but they they were fished out in those two years.
People were taking as many as they could and because it was early post spawn the fish were more then willing.

The perch are gone.

There are some perch there just not many anymore.  Are they still running the aeraters??  If not then theres no doubt it will winter kill.

They have been stocking condie with perch the last few years now and I believe SWF installed an aerater but im not 100% positive about that one.

Im curious about what happened to oyama, I remember about 4-5 years ago seeing lots of people on the ice there catching perch but when we tried it the spring we worked all day to catch one hammer handle pike.

There is a trout pond nearby there as well, but no trout in condie itself.
