On the Red at CIL today.
« on: Feb 06, 2011, 12:15 PM »
Hit the river at 7:00am today and stayed till 11:00.Not much bite today only got 3 small sauger before 9:00.Had one hit while I was stoking the stove that took my hook right off the line.Would have been nice to see what that was.Got 2 Burbot last week in the same hole.I was fishing in 19 feet of water, maybe that is to deep.Alot of the fish passing buy were at around 10 feet down so I tried everthing in my box to get them to bite.
There were not alot of people out today, are you all giving up?

I gave up on the river a couple of years ago. I dont get alot of chances to get out and dont have a truck so I head to Balsam bay. Usually do very well. I fished lockport last year and did well for saugers with the odd walleye mixed in. Too bad we cant fish there this year.

Lockport had some realy good days last year.It is to bad about the ice there this year.I was out in Balsom once this year and it is the only time I have been skunked in a long time.To make it even worse it was during that fishing derby a few weeks ago.I have seen alot of good posts from out there, unfortunetly I will be in Mexico for the next couple weekends so I won't be able to make it out there, dam life sucks some times.Ha ha.Oh well I guess I can always go when I get back.

My brother was in Cabo San Lucas last week and caught a huge Marlin. Good luck!

From what I have heard from the guys around us and some at Suger Island there isn't much coming up on the ice.I guess I was lucky today with the three little ones I got.The portibles around me today had no luck, just some light bites, same as my buddy had on friday.Hey but you never know, good luck if you do go.I would try around 12 feet from top of ice.

I'm going to the Playa del Carmen area, there is a lagoon you can snorkle in with the fish. They are straight out of the ocean but thet don't seem to mind people feeding them bread right out of your hand. The kitchen will even cook one up for you if you catch one.
