There  are several threads on the site on how to build various set ups for putting skies and or tube-rails to use for sleds and shanty transport. Me and the guy I fish with built a set up using old skies.Been a huge improvement on the hauling. We are planing on going to the tube-rail set up next season. Lighter and less resistance on the snow

Yeah I've gotten a few ideas since I joined this site, plus all the spare lumber I have in the shed. I might be making it my project for the week.

I bought  polyethylene tape on ebay last year. It's the material they make cutting boards out of. It was around $15, much less than the runners for my fishtrap scout. The tape works well and snow and ice do not stick! Just my .02

Good Luck

I take cross country ski wax. Both base and fast. Coat entire bottom with the base and allow it to set at least overnight. Then apply blue wax (fast). On each trip out, takes a couple of minutes,  apply fast wax always in the direction sled is being pulled. Never have had slush build up. Very recently saw the tube design on the ice as pictured in this, exellent.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully with the quick warming spell we just had some of the snow and slush will get packed down and refreeze.

I don't have any Pam or WD-40 laying around the house, but I do happen to have a cat that is not doing anything useful so maybe I'll try the brain idea.

I'm using the stuff Clark Griswold used on his silver snow saucer in Nat. Lampoons Christmas Vacation .  @)

It's food based and bio-degradable so I guess the planets safe for now .

KY!
I said it 1st!
But not the warming type (Know'm'sayin?)

The employment of effort, hard work, time, and energy put in locating fish will offend noone.

I was there when Timber and I built two of the sled haulers this year. I can tell ya he used lots of beer and Jack to build em ,don't know what he's using on the skies ,but it must be coming out of that flak he packs on the ice. ;D

Just tried a product called 303 protectant they use for kayaks, not sure how long it will last but the bottom seems much more slippery :)

black magic tire shine does the trick for me
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish.
