srikemaster mora blade breakage
« on: Jan 16, 2011, 09:50 PM »
as i was putting my new mora away today, i noticed that about 1" of one of the blades had completely sheared off. no idea how it happened, but it seemed to be while drilling, because i couldn`t find the other piece. will strikemaster replace it or is it "misuse/abuse" or whatever? (and please, no "go with a nils" posts, i`m fine with the mora)

I had that happen with lazer blades once. Half the blade sheared off at the bottom of the hole, drilled the rest of the day with one blade.

How old are the blades? is the bottom marked "made in china" or "mora of sweden"?

My blades were 6 years old so I didnt even ask.

I would contact them and tell them what happened. They will ask for the #'s off the blades so have those ready.

I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago and never even thought to look at where it was made. I knew about the "made in China" thing but for some reason, I thought since I bought it new last year, it came with Swedish blades.

Are the new blades we're getting off the rack from China as well?  Or just the blades that come on the new augers?

yeah sounds like quality when you have to replace the blades upon buying a new auger.  I dont understand with so many good options out there that people are still putting up with this shotty quality

I believe most of the china ones are put directly on the augers, now that the augers themselves are made in china. If you are buying replacement, look on the packaging, it will say sweden.

Glad to hear that! Dont lose faith in strikemaster just yet! They sent my replacement blades out and I had them the next day with a note and sticker in the envelope.
