Henry's
« on: Dec 29, 2010, 10:08 PM »
Well it's getting close . How many of us are brave enough to show up . It is going to be -15 degrees Saturday morning . Me and one of my buddys will be there . I will be wearing a red Polaris snow maching coat and camo pants . If you see a fat loud Italian on the ice come over and say Hi. Curt G.

MooseyMo and I will be there as well.  Look for the black Cabela's ice hub.  Will probably have coffee and the Mr. Buddy on if you need to come in and warm up.  Not really looking forward to the hike in.  Got a picture from a friend of the ~2 feet of fresh snow on the lake a couple days ago.  My thighs already hurt.  But pulling a couple hawgs thru the ice will fix that quick.  :D

No I am going to try and park at the Hatchery if there is room . If not I will be at county boat dock . They are saying 24" of snow on the ice . I want to park as close to the water as I can . I think we are all going to get a work out unless you have a snow machine . Curt G.

I think we will hit staleys just because we have never fished henry's before and everyone says fish staley's spring. but you have a good point, 2 feet of snow is not easy to walk on.  Unfortunately we dont have a snow machine.  Are most of the pigs caught around staley's? or have you caught some nice ones around the hatchery?

The fishing will be better at Staley's because of the springs the water temp will attract the fish . The problem is getting there . We fished the Hatchery on November 30 . I caught 6 and my buddy caught 10 . Several were 18 and 19 " long . We seen some a little bigger caught , but no hogs like they are catching at Staley's .Curt G.

I'll have my snowshoes and then the sled dragging behind that, so hopefully that'll ease your trek in...though I'll let you cross the ice first....especially if we go in at dark.  ;)

We didn't have a bite in 4 hours . We only know of 6 fish landed all day long at County Boat Dock . Some people camped out all night long and started fish at Midnight . They said no one in the area landed a fish until 7 AM . We talked to some guys coming back from Staley's on Snow machines and they did very well . The biggest one they had was 23" the smallest 19" . There were people parked all over the road because all the parking lots were full . I didn't see any tickets on the ones parked on the road . I thought that was funny because they were writing them in November . I need a snow machine before next Winter . Curt G.

Hmmm kinda glad I didn't make it. I went somewhere else instead because of the thought of all the cars and trucks creating a mess around Henry's. Ended up catching a bunch of really nice macs where i went. There will be plenty of time and space to fish Henry's next year. ;D

I would have posted my success at Henry's earlier, but my internet was on the fritz.  I was fishing with my friend and boys off the dock at the Wild Rose Ranch.  First off, I don't who you are that felt pity for me when I was using a hand auger to drill my holes, but THANK YOU for drilling me holes with your power auger!  Second, I was the guy who's ice shelter blew away and I was seen chasing it across the lake for a short while.  (Learned my lesson to always secure the shelter to the ice).  Third, I caught two Brook Trouts within 4 hours.  My first was caught using a jigging rapala with a pink underbelly and the second was caught using a wax worm and real worm on a hook that I jigged about three feet off the bottom.  First fish was 21" and second was 19".  Good fishing everyone!  Hope to see you out and about on the lakes.  Just look for me...  I'll be the guy chasing my ice shelter across the lake as it blows away  ;D

NOOOOOO...no tickets.  It was only open for a one day season on New Years Day.  It closed on December 1, 2010 and won't open back up until the 2011 Memorial Day weekend.  The good news is the regs changed this year and it will stay open all the way up to New Years Day 2012 and then reopen as usual on Memorial 2012.

Ahh I see, yeah I do not need any tickets. So all of next December I will have to plan accordingly to ensure that I do not miss that.
