Lake Michagamme
« on: Mar 13, 2011, 01:55 PM »
Why is it that I NEVER seen any shanties when I'm driving by Lake Michagamme in the winter?  Given the success that I've had in the summer on this lake, I would think it would have more activity in the winter.

There was a thread on Michigamme here a couple months back.  I do not know the lake very well and have never ice fished it.   Sounded like the lake is more miss than hit in the winter.

Must have missed it...or more likely just don't remember it.  Will take a look.  Thanks.

Lake Michigamme is SO HUGE it would take a lifetime to learn it. People do ice fish some of its bays you cant see from the highway. I think it is just so big it intimidates people. There is good summer fishing there though

i've spent all my life fishing michigamme and don't even bother to fish during the winter. its like the fish shut off when the ice forms. you can still catch pike on the west end inlet but thats about it
