Anyone have a Schroon Lake fishing report?

Has anyone been on Schroon and have a report on ice condition and fishing?  Was looking to head
up there this weekend and try the narrows or maybe adirondack if there's safe ice. Also can you still
park at that restaurant on the west side of the narrows?? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Ice is good, between 8 and 10 inches, no luck near south end of Clark's Island though.

Thanks Oletimer & Rivers, we used to slay the lakers with an occasional LLS in the narrows
but the fish up there seemed to just drop off 2-3 years ago.  Never fished the north end or
by Clarks' Island before but looks like a plan for Thurs morning! Where is the best access point
for Clark's Island area?

Park at the state boat launch on Dock St behind the Stewarts on Rt 9 (see google maps).  Walk out to Clark Island and get even with the white boat house.  I caught a 22" laker there last weekend jigging and marked a few others as well as lots of smelt.  Id focus my efforts in 40-70FOW.  Lemme know how ya make out.

elkguide1107 is there anyway u can help me out with jigs you use. I've never fished schroon lake before and I usually like to use halis or bro bugs. Do u think those would work on schroon or no.

I have had good luck with halis for perch on schroon, but only caught a laker on a tip up with a shinner in 40 feet of water

Your best chance of getting any Lakers is to jig up some smelt and put them on your tip-ups.  We got six keepers that way friday.

Thanks for the tip Elkguide, limited out on 2 fat lakers there today! Was a great day out there, good weather, backstraps in the frying pan, and caught both those fish on the jigging rod, just 1 flag for 2 of us, I got
a nice jack perch.
