Butterfield Lake
« on: Jan 10, 2011, 08:56 AM »
:) Does any one have any information on Butterfield lake. Is there any public access? I would like to try my luck on the crappies there.
    Thanks
I've never been lost, just confused for a day or two

Some nice pannies, walleye and pike in that lake.  Access from NYSDEC boat launch.

There's good access at the State launch in Redwood, plenty of parking but you'll need a wheeler or sled unless you plan on walking quite a ways to get to the shallow water.
Ice right now is anywhere from 3 to 6 inches depending where you are on the lake.

Stay away from the boat launch!!!!!  Park there then take the machine over by the public dock and get on just to the left of it.  The ice by the boat launch is always thin because of the creek.  If you want parking farther down the lake, drive down stine rd. (instead of taking a right by the fire hall) and go about two to three miles.  You will go over a big swampy area and the next road on the right is called round island trust rd.  Take a right there and go in just past the big pole barn and park on the right.  There is a canal that you can go out on tehre.  The guy that owns it is a really nice guy and he doesnt mind people parking but take your garbage with you and dont rut it up.
