OK I think I'm going to chance it this Sunday!  Some cold nights in NH the last couple of days so I'm just praying the long drive will pay off and I find some ponds with a good 5-6 inches!  Who else is going to risk some gas and take a drive????

Risk gas? I've only got a 10 minute ride. Only a short drive past the dump.  :P

I will certainly be risking gas tomorrow. Two hours each way. Totally ready.

Some lakes do have the 5-6 inches your looking for.  Just stay clear of the swift moving channels cuz they look good but only one or so inches of ice so far.  I bet I will see quite a few guys getting out this weekend because of the cold lately.

I'm heading north on Sunday with my 9 year old boy.  Think I have my sites on some good ice up there!  Do you have a good lead or are you just going to drive till you see some?

a 10 minute drive for me would be a dream for this time of year!  Everything in the northeast corner of mass just barely skimmed over this week!

Going out for a look see.  Not sure what I'll find close to home, but I'll be looking.

Hey Rob, where are you going around the area?  I am from Jaffrey and am home from school for a couple of weeks.  The ice is growing in quite a few little lakes around here...

Just gonna hit a spot that has been solid as an early ice lake. Finding small shiners has been a bit of a stinger. Arlington Bait & Tackle only had mediums and when I looked in the bucket, they looked like sharks! Oh well, not gonna complain, especially since he tossed in a few extras!

I see you are from Boston....if you are heading north on the weekend river street bait and tackle is opening full time again this weekned according to CPT Dana and he should have some.  Not sure of the size though.  He's off 495 in Haverhill if you want to swing in on the way up.

Took my girlfriend to the Georgetown Derby last year -- her first time ice fishing. It was top three WORST ice weather I've encountered. Brutal cold and winds. She was not pleased.

To get my wife to join us I had to buy a portable flip over and run a heater!!!!  She stays in there and cooks pancakes till the sun comes up and then will venture out if she gets a flag!-

I'm not sure the name of the guy who took it over from Dick after Dick was hit by a drunk driver (I've only been going there for three years or so) but they do well during ice season. The store was fully stocked with gear. Not sure on the suckers ... but you can give them a buzz at 781-646-5598.

Hopefully they'll get a nice batch of small shiners next week.

giant bass in that little pond however
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

I will be out in the Granite State this weekend.  Hopefully Saturday and Sunday.  Haven't decided where yet.  We'll see in the AM.

I fished Tuxbury a couple of years ago on a "tip" that it was full of big picks.  How did you find a place to set a trap that pond is shallow as heck and full of weeds to the top of the ice almost everywhere I drilled!  Kept pulling up weeds every time I popped a hole!
