I finally got out this post weekend. But carrying my stuff was not ideal. Here's what I had with me.
1) bucket w/ snap-on lid
2) hand auger
3) Showdown
4) 1 rod & reel
5) tackle bag
6) scoop

I've seen the clam folding chair...but it's $85.

Had anyone made a modification to a bucket so you can carry everything?

I wasn't sure of the ice condition before I left so I didn't want to bring too much with me. But apparently what I brought was almost too much to carry easily.

I got a surplus hiking pack that fits 5 traps, a jig stick or two, a scoop, and a bunch of pockets to put things in.  I use one of the side buckles to strap on a small folding stool.  I just carry the hand auger and bait bucket with me.

I've got one of the Frabill Strato Seats for a 5 gal bucket.  I put my X67c in the bottom of the bucket, a couple of rods and my scoop on top of the Lowrance with the tips of the poles and the scoop handle sticking out the cutout in the bucket seat.

I learned a new trick last weekend.  The wind was blowing like crazy so we knew our plastic sleds would blow away so....... We used the lightweight trailer that we haul our 4-wheeler on and tied down our sleds and other stuff onto it and used the 4-wheeler to pull the trailer out on the ice.

I use a modified hiking pack:

Works great!  Can lash the hand auger to the back too for those long hikes to the lake.

if i'm walking out, that means the ice is not thick enough for an atv/snowmobile. my ice fishing equipment does not float & I would consider it an anchor in that situation. that's why I pull a sled. not to mention, sleds slide easily across the ice & snow. :icefish:

I carry a handmade trapper's basket all season. They come in a few sizes, I have the largest one. I use it to haul deer bait and then pound it out and load all my gear. It frees up your hands to carry other things. Leave it out in the cold or bring it in once in awhile to dry out, they last for years.

Hitting the ice without my Jet Sled would make for a very frustrating day!

I know one of the brands has a molded lip in it, so you can stand it up n put a board across for a seat. Is that Jet sled?

Small Jet sled with a loop of 1" wide strap added to the pull cord so I can pull hands-free (Across shoulder-waist).

If I don't need a sled or shelter then I'll just use my pockets because I'm probably not going fishing. I usually pack enough to stock a small bait shop. I learned a long time ago that when I'm on the ice that's a bad time to think about what I should have brought. I still however, never actually brought a kitchen sink ...
