Otter Pro vs Wild
« on: Feb 08, 2011, 05:08 PM »
So, I believe the only difference is the seating, and the thickness of the fabric. What are the pros and cons on the bench vs the swivel seats?

Well........my wild bench seat can set 3 people, and I can take a nap when I get tired???...... don't think the swivel seats can accomodate 3 or recline......
On the other hand, to store equipment, the bench is a little cumbersom.....need to fold it up to gain access.....

The sleds are shaped a little different and made of thinner material also.

If they're made thinner it can't be by much. I have a wild and the thing is pretty thick the way it is. Not saying it's not true, but if it is, I wouldn't let a person get detered by the thought of it.

I have a Wild 2 and a Buddy of mine has the Pro.  First let me start by saying how much I love my Wild 2.  This is my first year as a hard water angler and my son and I have fished out it like five times in the last month and can find no complaints.  I think it is well made and the materials and construction is certainly worth what you pay for.  Having said that...I think the Pro is certainly made even better.  When you put the two of them next to each other you can see that the square tubing on the Pro is larger than on the Wild.  The dimensions are somewhat different, but not by much.  I would also like to point out that the Pro costs considerably more than the Wild so perhaps you are actually getting what you pay for.  For the record, If I could afford it...I would have bought the Pro for no other reason than the cool Ice Camo.

Cheers,
Ice Beard

Great! Just the observations I was looking for! I am in agreement with you as far as the ice camo!

I have a Wild 3 and a Wild 1.  The difference in the fabric is the Wild has a 600 denier canvas, and the Pro has what I think is 900 denier canvas, which obviously is thicker and heavier.  The poles are also a little different where they extend and click into place.  Either way, the Wild series of houses Otter puts out is quality...much more than the competition in my opinion.  The Pro just MUCH better than the competition!  I bought mine with the plastic swivel seats instead of the bench seat, and swapped them out with my cushy boat seats.  It's one hell of a portable, and for a guy who is laid off this was in my price range, and exceeded my expectations.
