i use one of the little single pan small burners that screw on to propane cylinders, their cheap and heat our little eskimo portable up nicely, great for cooking hot dogs or warming up frozen drinks too!

I got one of the old Coleman fuel catalytic ones - looks like a dome. Stinks a bit, but seems to warm things up. I could probably set something on top of it to keep warm, but I have a Coleman stove I'm gonna setup outside for cooking.

Whatever you get, get a CO monitor if you are going to zip up tight... I plan at least one all-niter this winter, so I'm gonna be careful about it...

Can't go wrong with the buddy heater it helps if you get a bigger propane tank to bring along like a ten or eleven pounder I can't remember what it was, a little pricey at first but in the long run a good investment you don't have 1 pounders all over the place.

For my 4x8 shack I use a Coleman SportCat if it isn't too windy or too cold. When the weather goes for a total crap I use a Sunflower on top of a 20lb propane tank. I wouldn't use any stoves or single burners for fear of getting kicked over etc.
My buddy has a 3 man Otter Wild portable and he uses the portable Buddy heater and he loves it. If I have to get another heater that is the one I will get.

Had the little buddy heater for years and really liked it.  I use a 5# lp tank and the green hose.  Last year Lowes had the full size buddy heaters for $50 so I picked one up, it's not much bigger than the little buddy, but kicks out a ton of heat and has a battery operated fan.

I hate to be repetitive, but the standard buddy heater does it for me, I have a clam fish trap guide and it warms it up well.

my problem with the little buddy, is that I think It would be more prone to be knocked over, the base is not as sturdy as the standard buddy.

For there proven reliability and it's safety features, I wouldn't look past the Mr.Heater Buddy lineup of portable heaters ;) Mine has never failed me and has kept me toasty warm on the coldest of days. You can run it off of 1lb cylindrical propane tanks or pick up the optional hose and connected it to a regular size propane tank for longer trips and what not.

I have a Big Buddy Heater too, it has always done a great job heating my 2 man clam. I have used the 10lb tank outside my hut but when its cold the tank gets really low pressure. I have used two 1lb tanks in the buddy for 3 or 4 days, you usually have to turn the heater on and off through out the day becasue it gets too hot lol. One thing to bring for sure is a long lighter or long wooden matches, I find when I first try to light the pilot light it takes for ever to get it to stay lit. Once its warm it lights most of the time. Make sure not to get snow in where the pilot light is while riding out to your spot. Makes it a real B--tch to get started lol.  Hope this helps also using the fan in makes a big difference blowing the heat around the hut.
