Pop up?
« on: Jan 30, 2011, 12:16 PM »
I have a frabill guardian which I love, but I am thinking of getting a pop up for when I am alone, or with a bunch of people, or when its warm outside/there is too much snow to haul it. This past weekend I hauled the guardian around a 60 acre lake with over a foot of snow  :%$#!: I can haul it no problem on a few inches or on ice, but on that much snow...Its usually me, my fiance and often times my buddy in the guardian, but I would also like to talk more people (we are often limited by space). It would also be good for early ice, and I want to have it so when I have kids we can all go out as a family in one shanty. So would I be better off with one of the 6-8mans or could I get away with a smaller 4 man. Also what brand is the best? Has anyone had any experience with the AP outdoors stuff? Thanks for the tips!

I have fished out of the 8'x12' Clam pop-up with 7 buddies and it worked great! We had plenty of room for us and our gear. They also make a 6'x8' Clam Summit that would fit 3-4 people comfortably.

I have an Eskimo Quickfish 4. Supposed to be for four people and would work fine for four if some of the gear is left outside. Three with gear inside works well. It is 6 1/2' by 7 1/2' and has a false ceiling that you put up to hold the heat down. On warmer days you can leave the false ceiling home. It works well for me.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
