Hello all, I have been reading up on these forums and gleaned a lot of good info, but have a very basic question - sorry I am such a newbie! I am born and raised in South Florida and never so much as seen it snow. Now as part of my job I will be on an icebreaker crossing the North Pole this summer, which will require me to spend many hours sitting next to a hole in the ice.
I am learning all about layering and thermals and such, but have a question about traction. If I am not running or hiking over uneven terrain, do I need cleats or crampons on my boots? I have never walked on ice/snow before so really have no clue what I am getting into. Thanks!
