Not sure what species you're after but have watched small fish pecking at sinkers that where above the hook with a camera. False hits left and right that way, totally confuses a real one. Little fish (even decent ones) do like to peck away at small colorful things in front of them when finicky. Worth a try but be prepared, have tried it and it's a marginal help on Perch at times but found a flashy spoon and a dropper a better approach

For perch I use nelson jigs that have the clackers built in. It's a small teardrop with a large ring where you tie on that has two small flipper blades that clack against the side of the teardrop when your jigging. Adds flash and sound . Very productive lure in shallow water.

i would have to agree with WNGNUT and SWIFT.. i also have seen the little guys pecking at sinkers ect... setting the hook all the time when no bite could scare em all off. and like wngnut said.. if your looking to add some clacking or flutter try picking up some " fairy jigs " they work great.. lots of diff brands make these i just know them as fairy, flutter or winged jigs. try em out you will like them i bet.

If yer havin problems with false hits on yer sinkers, try a #14-16 plain hook tied on drop-shot style a foot above yer jig. Tip it w/ a single maggot. Turns those false hits into stuck fish. This tactic also works great on pressured, or late season fish. I've watched fish that merely bump the head of yer jig from the side until the bait falls off, and duped them too!
It's not about luck, it's skill & determination

I've done glass beads and brass beads before but have only mainly used them to assist in pounding the bottom.
For more information read my MN nice journal
