Keep pounding the retailers.  If we keep asking for ice fishing gear this early in the season maybe they will start listening and start stocking it earlier.  Keyword here is "maybe".

Finally we got some Ice fishing stuff on the shelves here in MN. Thorne Bro's had a grand opening and get together today for the start of the ice fishing sales. Free food, seminars, reps from about twenty big name companies, and every single thing was on sale. Hell of a way to start the season. I was told that they are the first store in the state bringing out the hardwater stuff, other stores will start in October.

What auger are you looking for and how much do you want to spend?

Southern Ontario is a pretty big area - I'm northern NY; is that nearby?  Just wondering where your fishing habitat is located and what kinds of fishing you do, through the ice.
