cleaning mr.buddy 1 heater?
« on: Jul 02, 2010, 12:52 AM »
my mr. buddy 1 heater, (not the buddy lite or the mr. buddy "double" 2 heaters), won't light--does anyone happen to know what I might clean to get it to light?

Are you getting spark at the igniter ? Can you smell gas when you open the valve ? My igniter quit on my old buddy, had to use a grill lighter to fire it up. I had a spider nest in it once and cleaned it out with compressed air.  Good luck

I had a mouse nest in mine. I pulled 3 dead mice out of it and had a hell of a time with it after. It would not stay lit.  To clea it, take a q-tip with rubbing alcohol on it and put it down the pilot tube. then take the burner out of it and vacum it out. It is a little work but it mine is running like new again!

I am thinking about getting a Rubbermaid tote to stick my Buddy heaters in to keep the spiders and earwigs out. They screw things up inside them big time.

Mine fits perfectly inside one of those buckets that Fresh Step cat litter comes in.
