You just have to know what you want.
look for it will you browse.
Talk to no sales people. ( if you want to call them that)
Pay for it and go fishing.

Four easy steps.

Fish on!

I don't understand the hype over bass bro. before I moved there was one an hour from my house. Its a great novelty, and in terms of fishing, they have pretty much everything you need, but the little mom and pop shop in town out priced them on 80-90% of the stuff I was buying, and plus, sometimes you just want to go buy a few lures, not walk through a carnival. As mentioned earlier by a few people, I'd rather pay a little more and support local than save 50 cents. just my 2 cents.

if y'all are big into hunting and fishing, you should forget about all the gimmicks and gadgets, and the rest of the mostly useless junk that these places sell.  try focusing more on HUNTING and FISHING, and a little less on being a mindless north american consumer buying useless plastic garbage you'll hardly ever use and just take up space in the boat or hunting bag.  the outdoors is about simplicity not sophistication.  hard work, preparation, homework and time spent afield help ensure success, not a pack full of gadgets people
sounds to me like someone who is jealous of those who can afford some of the finer things in life!!!

Yes Bass pro shops, Cabelas and Wholesalesports do sell gimmicks and gadgets.  They also always have the ammunition I need in a pinch.  They carry tons and tons of stock If I want to or need to buy something.  I fish alot that means I go through alot of gear, and now that Wholesalesports is going to be in Regina that helps southern Sask alot.  Not having to wait for an order. Saskatoon is along drive away.  There is also nothing wrong with a large store coming to town to supply more jobs.

sounds to me like someone wants a mouth full of broken teeth.  Since YOU brought it up, i will bet your pathetic paycheck i make (have made)more than you.  i can guarantee you with one hundred percent certainty, you will lose.  how many people do you know who have retired at twenty nine years of age. huh, well, huh, ya i thought so.  I could afford anything from these stores that i please, but i stand by my original comment.   p.s.  anytime anywhere, bucko.
so if you retired at age 29,that would explain the lack of cash.he he he

I guess you know me . So you can judge me. I need to grow up.Again wow, Im not saying i want to punch teeth out. This is a fishing forum. Lets stick to that rather than the name calling. And a underwater camera or a flasher on a lake you have never been to. Can be a day of fishing.Or a day of fishing all day and maybe found fish 4 hours in because you had know idea were they were. Its a given.I think 95% of people would agree with me there. Unless your a fish wizard and find them with your wand :)

I have fished hardwater and open water tournaments for years and I have seen guys with the most gear come in last and sometimes they come in first. It is like any sport,
put your time in, learn the species your after and buy the best you can afford. Sure we all get suckered in sometimes when new gadgets come out, but don't blame a guy for trying to up his odds.
I think the new store will be great, my wife and kids can look around while I get what I need. Right now I have to go to pokeys or northern then drive to TNT,  it is alittle bit of a hassle if you have the family with you, but will still spend money at these stores because I've known them all for years.
As for who is the richest on here, who cares, when your are in a boat or on the ice everyone is the same, just someguy trying to catch a fish and have some fun. ;D

In a tourney you fish in one spot. So what ever gear you have is useless to a point. A day in B.C or northern sask. a lake you you never bin to you move with your gear to look for fish. If you just have your rod thats fine to. But you have no idea whats down there were there bitting or what it is. I like the gear and fished with out any gear for 20 years or more, till the last couple years and have never looked back. But also move around a lot. If you put your huge shack out there and never move it Then your fancy gear is kind of a waste of money, unless your on a honey hole. Watch those bass boats or fishing shows, they use alot of gear. So while your nailing holes or trolling with no gear could be a big waste of time if there is no fish there. But some people are just old school. I was but catch way more fish now.

I never said to fish without gear and go old school. I have fished florida, mexico, hiawii, and the b.c. coast and every boat had the same simple gear. usually a good fishfinder/gps and always lots of hooks and several fishing rods. NO one had the real flying fishing lure  :).

I would like to thank fish1, fishjn, tech by trade, etc... I woke up this morning and absolutely busted a gut reading your posts especially about knocking out a guys teeth, etc....then I saw the poster of "internet tough guy" and laughed for another 15 minutes-priceless-thanks guys!!!! That topped off my ice-fishing season!!!!! Money, no money, gadgets, no gadgets, fishing is fishing-whether you do it in tournaments or just down at a stocked trout pond with a red bobber and a nightcrawler.  Each person is different and can fish however they want.  I don't know any of you so I am not going to judge what was said (typed) but I can tell you one thing=you guys are really funny!!!!!!!
have a good summer-keep your lines tight out in the boat!!!!!

Almost as funny as someone getting all **censored**y about an Albertan's opinion of Tobin Lake

 ;)
I fish better with a lit cigar; some people fish better with talent

I never got all "censored"y about an albertan's opinion of tobin lake-I have got "censored"y about the way people act/behave when they come fishing at tobin lake-if you had a laugh about that fishinwilly4g63, so be it. Some people take fishing seriously, some people think it is a social event-to each their own. I wish that all albertan's thought tobin was over rated-I just laughed that he have the balls to come onto ice shanty and want to know info about the same lake he just trashed. i must admit, this march was alot better than last year and warren77 was out there and no one drove through my spread or acted like jerks when I was out there so I am thankful of that. I am not sure if it was because it was tough driving out there, slower fishing or people actually started respecting other fisherman-I hope it was the last option but I think it was because of the first!!!!!!

Good thing there opening a new store in Regina. When Cabelas comes to Saskatoon there going to put WS out of Busness. :o

We have Cabelas and WSS in Winnipeg, I can't say one will blow the other out of the water, they can both really suck. WSS is pretty popular on the forums as Cabelas/SIR has a bad rap here for bad customer service. One time I was in WS with the wife and we had to laugh when the fifth person asked if they could help us in less then five minutes. But to be honest, how in the world are you going to find a good person to work at these stores? Most guys who know their stuff have real jobs where they make good money, its lackies and students who work these counter jobs. Even if I wanted to work there and the money was okay (or I didn't care about the money) it is in the middle of the city, most decent sports men try not to live in the city.

Often if I need some stuff from one of these stores I end up going to both (if my wife isn't with me ::)), I reload my own ammo, its hard to get everything you want from one store.

The new store is going in on the east end of Regina, where the old Linen and Things used to be right across from Petcetera I heard.

Did you know Wholesale sports is owned by the UFA for the last two years?  Explains why they actually have sale flyers now.
