50th anniversary vex
« on: Mar 02, 2010, 11:24 AM »
So whats everybody's opinion on this vex?

I just ordered one today.I was able to get it for just over 500. Seems like allot of fluff but for basically the same price as an ultra pack. I said why not. This will be my first vex. I own a showdown already. When my showdown is working I love it, but I had to send it in for repairs twice in two years! >:(

Man, why would you open yourself to criticism like that? If you like it, it's your money.....be happy. That's the most expensive flasher out there ..... it better have the best of every thing every any flasher has to offer. Does it have the most power? Does it have the best fully adjustable zoom? Does it have the best target separation? Does it use two colors or three ....... or five or more? Does it have a case included? Does it have a digital charger? Does it have a graph and flasher? Is it super quiet? ........ if you said no to one or more of these questions it's best to ask yourself...... In the end it's your money so who cares **censored** anyone else thinks. Be glad you had 5 bills to buy such a nice item .......some people don't have 5 dollars.  :)

Well i was mainly wanting to see what people thought about the extra gadgets on it. I was hoping to here from people that own one mostly. I'm a big boy, I can take a little criticism.(good or bad) I even expected some from marcum users! ;D I can sort thru the garbage and find the helpful stuff.

I know people who own 25 and 50 year anniversary Corvettes and I don't hear people with Fords and Dodges giving them any flack about it. I have never had the opportunity to see the 50th anniversary Vex and if I wanted one I would buy it. I have an FL18 and if and when it wears out I will have a decision to make. I learned to interpret what my Vex is telling me and don't feel the need to have a ton of power to see what is going on. Maybe someone will come out with a flasher with fish i.d. which would be a reason for some folks to "trade up" again. Enjoy your new flasher.  ;)
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

If you are asking for opinions, here's mine.  Return it if you can and buy  marcum or humminbird.  50th anniversar vex using 30 year old outdated technology.   Will it work and mark fish, etc.  Sure.  The marcum or humminbird will do it better.

While it's not a 50th one I fish next to a FL-20 and he's right. Yes it will work but theres units out there that do it better. Hard to explain unless you see them side by side and are lucky enough to fish waters you can see for sure whats below you and what your missing.
