i have been catching fish...

I have been finding and catching active crappie and gills, light bite still but they are more active. I have been thinking outside the box and fishing more shallow than I would usually try.... saturday was 4.5fow and the fish were at 3'.

just something i thought i would share and see if anyone else has any tips where to find active fish, not looking to swap hotspots just spots to check out this time of year with the real slow lock jawed fish.

I also just started finding fish in the shallower parts of a couple farm ponds.  Recently tried Krumm lake in Jasper County and didn't mark a fish on the Vex.  Sand lake near Marshalltown has a severe case of lockjaw also.  Fish will light up the screen like crazy but will not bite.

been finding alot of active fish(crappie) right at dark for cpl hrs ,bad thing is all dinks very lite bite on small minnows nothing on vex till after 6-630 then non stop for few hrs went last thrsday and again lastnight was the same

I just got back from the Mankato Mn area and fished quite a few of the lakes up there.  I too found some real good catches in the shallows.  Most everyone else was out in 14-20 ft and I caught gills and perch in the 4-5 ft water.  Couldn't find many crappie though.

rarely but i plan on going there saturday, there were some other guys on here talking about going... we could have a mini IS gathering there lol

Somewhat. I found that I have to use a bobber to hold the bait completely still, but when they hit it they hit good. the bobber goes down 6-8" in a split second.

Here is the pic. Believe it or not I was in 20 FOW, all the marks from 14-20 are schools of gills and perch, probably 100 under me.
