My wife
« on: Jan 31, 2010, 12:50 PM »
Let me tell you about my wonderful wife.  I woke up this morining about 7, came out to the livingroom sat down in my chair, turned on ESPN.  My wife looked at me and asked, "are you going to go get a Vexilar today? :o.  She has known for a while that I have wanted one, just surprised me that she asked that today.  Well I ate breakfast, and around 9 a.m. I left the house. 30 min later I am walking out of the store with my new FL-12 pro pack II.  Now to get it fully charged and hit the ice.  Here is a pic...

Nice purchase.

I understand buying a new tool for yourself is always a great thing and a proud moment, but I don't understand the shock and aww of the wife giving you permission to spend the money you earn.  Are there really women out there who require you to get permission?  If so, what are you guys thinking getting involved with women like that?  A purchase over ~1k my wife and I would discuss, but really we never question or have to get the ok, we just come home and say "want to see what I got today", half the time we will roll eyes at one another but if the bills are being paid and money is being put aside into 401k and/or IRA for retirement I will be damned if I have to get permission or the ok to spend money I earn.  The day the wife tries to control me like that I will be driving to the courthouse to fill out papers.

I somewhat agree, but if you can drop upto a 1K without talking to your wife and then have her roll her eyes at you when you do, you are making some serious coin and must not have kids!!!   Most items more than a few hundred bucks are normally planned for.  It might only take a week to save for it for some and others may have to save for a year.  Everyone's budgets are different.  Asking permission, implies unequal representation in the finances, either due to one person making much more than other or one person simply imposing their will on the other.  I don't think either situation is right.  I also don't understand marriages where each party has different checking accounts and no joint account.  Everyone has their own ideas on this topic, and I don't think there is a right way to do it.  If it works in your house, who cares what others do.

Congrats on the new Vex...now if she gets jealous of the time you spend with it, you have other problems!!!   :roflmao: :icefish:

Ya I agree with above. I think he was more excited about the fact that she suggested that he go buy one. Marriage is 98% about compromising. Alot of People who are divorced are unwilling to compromise. I would run it by wifey too but Im not sure thats asking permission. Its a matter of respecting your wife. IMO

Ummm...some are divorced out of no fault of their own.  Some people don't know the meaning of monogamy.  Are you supposed to comprimise there too?   :o :o :o :o :P ;D

I agree with h2.0shaver he is all wise. and neither of us have any intentions of giving our wives our flashers in the divorce. That's why I went and bought her one of her very own. Problem solved. That is until her battery run's down.

I guess it depends on if she is wealthy and if she allows you to have fun too, then I could consider compromising.

The wife watches that Big Love show on HBO.  I told her the other night the more I watch the show the more I think being a polyagamist could be pretty cool, then I told her I don't know if it would be worth it dealing with three wives, one is already to much.  I got the eye roll on that one too.

Points taken.  No kids here, I guess that would effect the budget, not looking forward to that part of having kids.  I can assure you my wife would never tell me to go buy a Vex or Marcum, if I even mention it she says "a what, what is that for."

I read a quote that probably describes most guys I know............. "My only regret is that when I die my wife will sell my hunting and fishing equipment for what I told her I paid for it !!!!!!!"   That probably goes for most males, and sure females suffer the same in other hobbies.  I was not clever enough to write it, but believe it to be true of most married couples with children.
