Jigging Tutorial
« on: Feb 16, 2010, 11:26 AM »
My mother in law has been wanted to learn how to jig so yesterday we took the oppurtunity to take my her and my wifes brother out to one of my little spots for fun. It started off slow, but I knew fish were there - so I had to pull up a couple as reassurance and then they were off to the races! I didn't fish all day but in the 5 minutes that I had a pole in my hand I got a 1.3 lb perch, which is the biggest I've ever caught so excuse the smerk. The lure didn't even hit the bottom so it was the worst lesson ever.

Anyways, I forgot my camera like an idiot. So I only grabbed a couple pictures of my wifes little brother who was slaying, my perch and a little surpise too.

In total I have no clue how many fish were caught... about 20 crappie, none smaller than 10 - most over 11. A few perch that were a tad smaller than mine and some bluegill to boot. Also a bass on one of the tip-ups as well as some of EADs world famous 24kt super golden shiners.      :P

Thanks Halfie.   Wonder what the tackle shop would whack you for bait this size? You'd have to bring a cooler because they don't fit in a bucket.

I am happier about the Perch though. I have closer places for bait - although since this spot is close for the "crazy" mother in law, if she wants to jig all day for bait for me then be my guest. I was using a 5 year olds pink noodle rod while other people were using my rods and the thing put up a hell of a fight.  Like I said, its the biggest greenback I can ever recall catching.    To see everyone nailing such great crappie was awesome too - I can't wait to go back!
