I've had good luck with the Diamond jig from Custom Jigs & Spins tipped with a few spikes. I've caught countless gills and crappie, one crappie was 15", jumbo perch, walleye, and a half dozen good sized bass.

Go to Jammin Jigs they have a starter set with 20 or so jigs for 12-15$ They work great and glo very good too.

No, I didn't miss that part. You seem to be all over the place with this question. You want to fish for everything from pike bait to trout with 1 jig?

Skip the jigs and bait a small, #12 red hook with waxworms or spikes. If you don't have red, use gold. If you've got a buck or 2 extra....buy some minnows. You don't need jigs to catch fish.

You sure you didnt miss stuff? I never said I fish for trout, I said I would be jigging mostly for pike bait.  :icefish:

i have a jiggin' spoon that i made at work....
1st i stole this guys lunch spoon of his tool box, then cut off the handle.
did a little "this"..a little "that"....and i am able to call in the lakers with it...had a few "nibbles",
but when i catch one with it you bet ill post some pics......needs a little more adjusting...
we call it ..."chicos spoon"..hehe

Oh for peats sake! a single tear drop??!!... they only cost 5 pop cans!  ::)

Wait until you get into it and start using jigs that cost 40-50 pop cans!  

To answer OP's original question:
I like the fiska 3mm jigs or the cheaper choise is a #12 red fat boy from lindy

 Gets a second vote from me, certainly takes some beating. I'd only use them in really deep water tho on the ice (safety first). I will say they're not great for catch and release tho...

I would have said Swedish pimple as well however the last year I have used Tsunami Ball jigs and they have out performed any other jig lately. However I jig for trout, I am personally am not into panfishing

Don't tell my wife you don't need jigs to catch fish. :whistle:

In my opinion I like the Keeperlures Glow teardrop in size "10" or "12", you can catch a lot of pike bait with this.
