what size jigging rod
« on: Jan 26, 2010, 02:10 PM »
Hey Guys, Is there any advantage of a 32"rod over a 28" Med lite action. or visa versa  I fish outside no shelter. Any help is appreciated.

Personally like a 48" (or more) for walking around, like being able to get the tip near the hole if there's wind moving my line more than needed

I agree with swift only because it's easier to hole hop. If you don't use a house or you're just searchin' a longer rod is better not to mention fightin' fish. Hope this helps.

What's more important is how long of a handle it is and where you put your reel on it.  I like having a 32" rod with a longer handle either tennessee or reel seat.  The true measurement of the rod length's performance is from the tip to the reel position.  Another advantage to a longer rod is the line guide placements.  The further away the first line guide from the reel is, the less pulsating effect to distract you during the fish fight.  Longer rods are just more forgiving on the fish fight.
