I have a Sheppell portable and love it. But I have never ancored it down . Whats the best way? I will be taking it to Moosehead and my wife will be using it for jigging. It might make for a tough ride home if the wind comes up and she takes the shanty for a ride across Moosehead .Might be a little funny thoe [/quoteDick's Sporting Goods has the 2-pack of screw in anchors for $5.00. ]
Can I use a screw gun to screw these in? I thought about getting some 3/8X4" lag bolts with washers. Thanks
Used my Shappel 4000 for the past five years almost every ice-fishing weekend. Here's how I anchor her securely. 1. I drill my holes 2. I take 2 foot stakes with two foot ropes tied through or to the stakes and shove them down the hole so the stakes lie flat against the underside of the ice. If the ice is thick push the stakes down with your skimmer or ice chisel. 3. Attach a strap to each of the ropes (which are attached to the stakes underneath the ice) prior to pushing the stakes down the hole or afterwards, your preference and tighten. Viola` about as secure as you can get. If you typically fish where the ice is thicker just adjust the length of your ropes attached to the stakes. End of the day, tap them with your skimmer or ice chisel and they pop right back up to the surface. Quick and easy. Haven't found a better or more secure way since having the Shappel. Good luck!Hoppes
