I caught a bunch of fish.  I also managed to catch my first master angler largemouth.  Then about an hour later I caught my second.  These fish were pigs as you can see in the pics.  Just so you have something to go by I am 6ft tall and about 220lbs.  The gills averaged between 7.5 and 8.5" with a few 9"ers mixed in.  What a great day on the ice.

Great fish!  Looks like you had a heck of a day out there.  Glad the drive was worth it.

I'll be out there Monday and possibly Tuesday of next week.  I took a couple days of vacation to get out on the ice before it's gone.  This warm weather has me worried.  February 12. 2009 was my last day on the ice last season.

Do you know burchard very well? I have always wanted to try it but have never made it down there. I was going to our farm pond on tuesday but might have to head down south.

Yeah, I've fished it quite a bit over the last few years.  I haven't been over there in a few weeks though.  I've only fished it 3 times this season.

Generally speaking, I've found perch in the deep stuff off the dam and point in the middle (20 -25 FOW)  They've been small.  The biggest ones I've ever caught out of there have been maybe 8-10".  Nice to catch a few perch though.

The water is so clear that I've found it's easy to spook the fish in shallow water.  It's the only place around that I can use the Aqua-Vu with any success.

Great place to fish.  It's worth the drive down.  Go for it.

And if you make the drive down, make sure you stop down at Wolf-Wildcat.  Its just a few miles Northwest of Burchard.  It's always good for gills and the Crapppie bite usually picks up late in the afternoon.

No I didn't have a scale with me.  Snaped a pic or two threw the tape on them and sent them back down the hole.

Hey nice fish. I took your lead and fished burchard wednesday  my first time there. bite was kinda slow till around dark when I couldnt get my jig back in the water fast enough.  plenty of nice fat gills at 8 -9 inches ,one keeper perch barely , and 4-5 of smaller  crappie took most of the day but was able to ice my limit.

Fish2live if your heading there go the point thier is a little cut go about 30 foot from bank or go just a little further south you'll see a snow mound made from a bucket go about 20 feet towards dam you also on the north side of piont where you see the brush by bank go about 20 feet from bank only problem here is muskrats seem to want to come up your hole.  We had real good luck by that snow marker last weekend caught monster gills and dinky perch no crappie.
