Brainerd Tourney this weekend Jan 23
« on: Jan 19, 2010, 07:20 PM »
I have been amazed for many years of the photos taken at that one day (3 hour) fishing derby the Jaycees put on. In one of the photos it looks like KBLB country music radio station had a "booth" on the lake and was broadcasting the event. I've tried to find any radio station on the Internet that might be streaming a live broadcast of the tourney but have no luck so far. I'd like to listen to the event live if its possible. Does anyone know if there will be a live Internet radio stream to tap into?  Thanx, and good luck to those who participate. Those are some hellacious prizes for a 3 hour derby. Not to mention the raffle drawings.  :o

That would be great. I've seen more than a few tourneys in my time but the Brainerd one is truly one-of-a-kind. 15,000 participants can't be wrong! I've got several friends up here that want to tune in too if its available. Thanx.

Hmm, 32 degrees out there. That's ideal for even getting the kids out. "Light Snow Mist falling with freezing rain." Better than me.  I'm at 2 Below in AK at the heat of day, noon. At least our daylight is growing by 4+ mins a day now...more time on the ice.

Too bad there isn't a live webcam posting pics on the net. Now how hard is that to set up? A PC web cam, a laptop with a cell phone antenna for connecting to the net via a local cell tower and even a fisherman could do it while "working" on a winner. It seems the event is still a bit "technically challenged" for providing us vicarious participants a chance to watch the progress of things.  I guess they will have all the winners identified one hour after the derby ends. Wonder if their leaderboard will be posted shortly after that on the Internet. Hope so.

Ah ha, just checked their site. The WINNERS ARE POSTED. 6.26# Walleye takes the truck. Next biggest fish was a 2.86# tullibee for a KingQuad 750.

Here is the results in their currently "Not quite Official" status. http://www.icefishing.org/index.cfm?PageID=305
