Equipment
« on: Jan 12, 2010, 04:54 PM »
Hey y'all, wondering where the best place in Jersey is to buy ice fishing equipment.  Looking for a sled, tip ups, dacron, etc.  Been out to Cabelas, wasnt too impressed with their selection.  Im in Hunterdon so Im assuming Im going to have to take a ride to a sport shop up north.  Thanks for the help!

Fish 307 in Lake George Ny has a great selection . I have always had good luck with FishUsa as well. Both are sponsors of this site as well.  not to say you wont find what your looking for in jersey..But both of these are almost sure bets for all your needs in one place.

Rays Sport Shop  went out of business last year.

Your best bet would be to order on line or take a ride up to Dow's on Lake Hopatcong or Simon Peter on 206 in Andover (I think that's the town).

Effingers in Bound Brook may have some stuff too.  I haven't been there this year but have gotten some ice fishing equipment from them in the past.

I'm also from Hunterdon.  Not much in this neck of the woods.

Good Luck

There's a place called Sportsmans Rendezvous on 31N just outside of Flemington near Hunterdon Med Center.  They've got a few tipups, dacron, jiggs.  Not a great selection but if it's close to home for you, might be a good place to try.  Then there's a place called Highway Sports (I'm pretty sure that's the name) on 31S in Washington if you're closer to the other side of the county.  I haven't been there in a while but again, if it's close it's worth a shot.

YOJ Sports Shop in Andover on Route 206 North had a real good selection of local stuff that works and are quite knowledgeable.  They can get you set up and they also have bait.

I was in Efingers last Friday, and all they had were a couple of tip ups. Give them a call, perhaps they got in more merchandise since then. Early in the season last year, Efingers didn't have much ice fishing merchandise, but as the season went on, they added quite a bit more merchandise. Maybe they'll do the same this year.
