First post but heading to the Red on Friday

Hey ya all.  Thinkin of takin the new Fishinn portable out on Friday.  Was thinkin either Sugar or junction at highway 509.  Whats the latest there?

Newbie to this network but not to hardwater fishing.

I was only asking for an update of action at 2 of the spots, kinda like everyone else does.

sugar seems to be so- so  people are starting to turn to the big lake as the water is getting clearer as the days go by, driving is easy on big lake thus far and reports of the ice ridges are passable. I dont think you could go wrong there, River is very sporatic though. Good luck and welcome (dont worry about first post we were all new at one point) thats what we are all here for is to share info, stories and advice!

Thanks Kiwico............ that's what I had heard.  I'll likely give Sugar Island a shot anyway and maybe move up to EOM.

I'll post the results.

I notive that there are not too many posts from the small town of shanties at Brainerd Siding (509).

Went out to the float plane base as planned.  5 hours, 3 hits, 2 walleyes 13 and 15 inches.  Jig and salties all on live rod no action at all on dead stick.

marked some fish but not a great day for action.  9 AM to 3 PM with the 3 hits between 10 and 11:30.

Set up just north of the main village off the ramp. 
Anybody get better action there or closer to Sugar Island?
